All generic extensions and several country-code ones support a security lock option whose function is to block unsanctioned transfers of existing domain names. Many domain registry operators that manage ccTLDs that don’t support this option are in the process of adopting it for greater security and for the convenience of the domain owners. A domain name can be transferred only on the condition that it is unlocked and only an individual who has been granted access to the account with the current registrar company can achieve that. New domains are registered with the lock option enabled intentionally, so as to block any unauthorized transfer attempts. The lock option is among the safety measures for controlling the transfer of existing domain names between registrar companies that have been introduced over the years.

Registrar Lock in Hosting

Locking and unlocking a domain name registered through us is astonishingly easy. This can be accomplished through the Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with our Linux hosting, and will take exactly two clicks. All your domain names will be displayed alphabetically in the Domain Manager section of the Hepsia Control Panel and next to those whose extensions support the domain lock option, you will see a padlock-like logo. Click on it once and you’ll notice the domain’s current status. Click once again and you will alter its status. The change will take effect instantaneously without the need for you or for us to do anything else for the status to be ‘refreshed’ on WHOIS lookup websites, so you can continue with the transfer process straight away.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Locking or unlocking any domain name registered through us is very easy and can be done through the Hepsia Control Panel – the one via which you manage your semi-dedicated server. You’ll see all your domain names in the Domain Manager section and the ones whose extensions support the registrar lock option will have a padlock icon on their right. You can unlock any domain name by clicking on its icon and since the change will propagate instantaneously, you will be able to proceed with the transfer process without waiting for the status to be changed on WHOIS sites. If you change your mind and decide not to transfer the domain away from us, locking it again will be just as easy and will not require more than several clicks of the mouse in your hosting Control Panel.
